Personally, i prefer the Tetons to Yellowstone and would split 4 in Tetons and 5 in Yellowstone. Lodging depends on what you like and your budget. In the Tetons, I would stay in Signal Mountain and in YS I would stay at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and one of the places in Gardiner--we like the Super 8 but it is certainly no Yellowstone Hotel is worth having dinner at and/or a stop.
